Brief
I began to research into the physical properties of smart
material XURF (Expandable Surfaces) as part of my 2009
Student Award D&AD submission.
I decided to design a poster that communicated the unique
properties of XURF, in particular its physical appearance.
Expandable Surfaces are metals that have the ability to change
their physical shape in response to light. In the same way petals
on a flower open and close in response to daylight, the
molecular structures present in XURF uses a combination of
nature and synthetics to function in a similar way.
